Connor Langerman: Crop Scouting/Soil Sampling Intern

20160613_maxyield_172Meet Connor Langerman, one of MaxYield’s Crop Scouting and Soil Sampling Interns.

Where do you call home?

I grew up in Whittemore, Iowa and graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona, Iowa.

What is your major and why?

I attend South Dakota State University, where I will be a junior in Ag Systems Technology. I chose Ag Systems Technology as a major because I saw the growing potential in this field of work. Technology is progressively changing, especially in the ag field.

How did you hear about MaxYield’s internship program and why did you apply?

I heard about MaxYield from friends who interned with MaxYield and are now full-time team members.  They told me about the internship program and that they liked the company. I thought a MaxYield internship would be a great experience and something I could learn a lot from. So far I have loved the internship and working for MaxYield.

What are some goals you have during your internship?

In my time at MaxYield I hope to learn more about the agronomy side of agriculture. I am looking forward to learning about weed identification and proper chemical application. I have also enjoyed learning about a wide variety of agricultural practices such as strip-till, organic and conventional farming. I hope to continue learning more about both traditional and non-traditional agricultural practices.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

I like to spend time outside and enjoy fishing and hunting. I also enjoy spending time with my family at Lost Island Lake.
