Interns Take Aim for Success

By Ashley Smeby

MaxYield Cooperative interns attended the recent “Take Aim for Success” session, hosted by Kossuth/Palo Alto Economic Development. Kathy Peterson of PeopleWorks, presented a communication based presentation on how people interact with each other.

Interns took a short assessment to determine their preferred communication style. This assessment served as a guide for the discussion for the night. The assessment highlighted the legitimate differences and preferences in communication that exist in our teams in work and our personal life.

Kathy also reminded us how important it is to take advantage of all the internship opportunities that we can to network with others within our career path.

“Technical skills make up just a small piece of having a successful career, the more important and larger skills are social and communication skills,” said Kathy. Working with others is an important part of coming to work every day. Having a better understanding of different personalities, can make it easier for us to communicate with each other.

MaxYield interns will attend various Kossuth/Palo Alto Economic Development activities throughout the duration of their internship, and continue to learn more about having a successful career.
