Meet your director candidates: Don Hejlik

At MaxYield’s annual meeting, slated for December 13, 2017 at the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer, IA, ballots will be counted to determine our director elections. Meeting time is at 10:00 a.m. Here is your chance to meet the candidate pursuing either election or reelection to the co-op’s board of directors.

Don Hejlik is seeking election to the MaxYield Cooperative Board of Directors for the East Region (East of IA Hwy 17).

A 1986 graduate of Britt High School, Hejlik has farmed in the Britt area for 24 years. The family farm produces corn, soybeans, plus feedlot cattle and a contract swine finishing operation. The farm also has a custom baling and silage chopping business and repairs Sukup grain dryers. His wife Sarah is a BSN in the West Hancock system. They stay busy with activities for their four children and two grandchildren.

Hejlik earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems in 1990, before working as a computer software programmer in the insurance industry for three years.

He is a member of the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan and serves as president of the church board. Hejlik also serves his community as treasurer for the Duncan Community Hall board of directors.

Hejlik is seeking reelection to the MaxYield Cooperative board of directors because he understands that decisions today impact the future and he wants to offer his expertise and opinions.

He believes the company is solid financially and the direction of the company is very good. If reelected, Hejlik would like to see continued investments in infrastructure and measured growth where feasible.

He appreciates that MaxYield is not afraid to try new things and feels that the pace of change and investment in technology will be accelerated. Hejlik says that agriculture is a capital intensive business and that will be one of the challenges moving forward for both producers and the cooperative.

Hejlik counts his hobbies as spending time with family, scouting, camping, and canoeing. He also enjoys a good card game.
