My MaxYield Internship: Ryan Mayland

Ryan Mayland COMP

Meet Ryan Mayland, MaxYield’s Advanced Agronomy Sales Intern

Why did you decide to purse agriculture as a career path?

Mark Eisenman, a MaxYield team member, was my baseball coach, and good family friend. He was always encouraging me to pursue agriculture. I also grew up helping on our family farm, and worked for a seed dealer.

What is your role as the Advanced Agronomy Sales Intern?

As a second year intern I have been given more responsibility. This summer I am in charge of a list of clients through MaxYield Seed and SciMax Solutions, to check in with them and their fields. I am also more involved in the agronomy side of the company, learning more about fertilizer and crop protection products.

What made you decide to intern a second year for MaxYield?

After my first year, I realized how much I enjoyed working with Kurt Metzger, Seed Solutions Specialist, and other MaxYield Agronomy Specialists. I also really liked that everyone throughout the company was so easy to work with.

How has this year’s internship differed from last years?

The major difference between this year and last year is the amount of responsibility that I have been given. This year I enjoy having my own clients that rely on me for information and agronomy questions.

What projects have you been working on throughout the summer?

This summer I have been working with clients and checking in with them periodically. I have also been working with MaxYield Seed, and SciMax in crop protection products, fertilizer and tissue testing.
