My MaxYield Internship: Sven Nielson

Meet Sven Nielson, MaxYield’s Crop Scouting Intern

Sven Nielsen compSven grew up in Albert City Iowa where he was actively involved in FFA, and helping on his grandfather’s farm, which allowed him to see a closer look at agriculture. Sven Nielson is currently studying Agricultural Education and will be a junior at Iowa State University in the fall.

What are you hoping to learn from this internship experience?
I hope to explore the opportunities that agriculture has to offer, and decide if I want to continue pursuing agriculture as a career path.

What has surprised you the most throughout your internship so far?
The amount of precision and new technology there is in agriculture has been one of the most surprising things. I am amazed at how accurate and easier things are by the new technology of different maps and Winfield’s R7 Tool.

What projects have you been involved with?
I have been talking to clients about MaxYield’s soil sampling and crop scouting programs. I have also been able to work with SciMax Solutions, and have talked with clients about the SciMax Nitrogen Program.

What are you most looking forward to this summer?
Throughout the summer I am excited to learn about the different opportunities within MaxYield and throughout the career of agriculture. I am also looking forward to working outside and having hands on experience with crop scouting.

How did you learn about the MaxYield Crop Scouting internship?
I learned about the MaxYield Internship program from last year’s communications intern, Haley Banwart.
